Outrigger Canoe Club 1908
The first OCC structure was a grass house bought from a defunct zoo in Kaimuki. This grass house faced the ocean and served as storage for canoes and surfboards.

The Outrigger Canoe Club is shown in its entirety in this panoramic photo from 1908. The grass shack at left housed canoes and surfboards, the grass shack in the center was the bathhouse, and the thatched roof pavilion at the right on the lagoon was used for dances and entertainment.

A grass-thatched pavilion was built for the Outrigger Canoe Club in 1908 which quickly became popular for community dances and other social activities.

The Apuakehau Stream flowed through the Outrigger Canoe Club property forming a muliwai or pond, where water flowed into the ocean. It was referred to as the Lagoon.
