The koa canoe Stephanie was originally owned by Henry DeGorog who served as general manager of the Outrigger Canoe Club during the war years of 1942-1945. DeGorog purchased the canoe on the Big Island for $200 for his family's personal use. When DeGorog accepted a job in San Francisco in 1945, he sold the canoe to the Club. The Stephanie hung in the Outrigger Canoe Club bar from January 1964 to April 2000. By then it was in disrepair and work was needed to bring it up to acceptable condition.
