2002 Ka Moi Blessing
The koa canoe Ka Mo'i graced the beach at the old Outrigger Canoe Club from the 1920s through 1964 where it was used as a surfing canoe by the Outrigger Beach Services. It then spent 15 years on Kauai and survived two hurricanes there. The canoe was returned to the Club in 1999 in poor condition. It's renovation was completed in February 2002 and a blessing was held at the Club during the annual meeting..

There was termite damage throughout the canoe and dry rot. The majority of the stern section of the hull was replaced due to poorly fitted patches from previous renovations.

Allan Dowsett volunteered to work on the canoe along with many others including Tay Perry, who was in charge of the project. A lot of the materials for the renovation were donated. A total of 1,155 man hours were contributed to the labor.

On August 9, 2002 the Outrigger Canoe Club's bar and lounge were renamed the Ka Mo'i Boathouse in honor of the 70-year-old koa canoe which now hangs from the ceiling. Participating in the ceremony were Kawika Grant, center, and chief renovator Tay Perry, chair of the Historical Committee which oversaw the project.

In December 2019 termite damage was again found in the Ka Mo'i and it was taken down and treated. In July 2020 it was returned to its rightful place of honor in the Boathouse. The 'iaku and ama were replaced. The canoe is 34' 4" long and weighs 547 pounds.
