Outrigger had to borrow an old koa canoe from Head Men's Coach Johnny Puakea for the race after HCRA declared that Outrigger's koa canoes did not meet its new canoe specifications. The canoe had various problems during the regatta and the Club had to borrow a canoe from another club to finish the regatta.
