A new memorial plaque has appeared at Keehi Lagoon Park where OHCRA races are held. The plaque below reads: The Deck of Pakaʻa. Pakaʻa was a learned man trained in the natural history of land and an expert navigator and seer. Literally, Pakaʻa means to converse, tell tales or anecdotes.

The Hanakeoki, which was the Outrigger Canoe Clubʻs first racing canoe in 1908, sits on the beach at Keehi Lagoon in all its glory. It is now owned by Makaha Surf Club. It is more than 100 years old.
