Outrigger General Manager Mike Ako thanks Neil Noble of Tropical Turfgrass who landscaped the entry circle at the front of the Club. Neil donated and planted the El Toro Zoysia grass to beautify the Club.

2008 Idaho Century Bike Race
Scott Ballentyne completed a Century Bike Race along the Snake River in Idaho and into the high desert country of Oregon. They battled 18 mph headwinds for the first 60 miles and the elevation change of up to 900 feet.

2008 Joint Paddling Practice 7-23-2008
For the first time ever, Outrigger Coaches Robyn Singh and Johnny Puakea held a joint paddling practice for Outriggerʻs Open Men and Women. Seven mixed crews participated. A good time was had by all.
2008 Pimmʻs Cup
At the Kentucky Derbey the traditional drink is the Mint Julip. At Englandʻs Ascot and at Wimbledon itʻs a Pimmʻs Cup. The Pimmʻs Cup was served at the old Outrigger Canoe Club in Waikiki and has been brought back for the Clubʻs Centennial year.
2008 Outrigger Canoe World Sprints 8-2-9-2008
Outrigger's Masters Women 55 finished seventh in the 500-meter race and fifth in the double hull in the Outrigger Canoe World Sprints in Sacramento. The crew: Carol Cook, Susan Hetizman, Alice Lunt, Sandra Simons, Patty Mowat and Maile Ostrem.

2008 Duke Kahanamoku Birthday
Outrigger member Keanuenue Rochlen and OCC President Tom McTigue represented OCC at the Duke Kahanamoku formal lei draping ceremony in Waikiki on his birthday. A special 12-foot lei was created, then carried in a procession from the Outrigger hotel, home of the original Outrigger Canoe Club, to the Duke statue in Waikiki.
2008 Hawaii Swimming Hall of Fame
Outrigger swimmer Jim Caldwell was inducted into the Hawaii Swimming Hall of Fame in November. Jim was one of the ioneers in Hawaii channel swimming. He was the firsdt to swim from Maui to Lanai in 1970 and from Maui to Molokai in 1976. Jim co-founded and was chairman of the Maui Channel Swim relays held annually in the Auau Channel. The swim is now in its 38th year.
2008 Monk Seal Visit
Rocky the Monk Seal visited the Outrigger Canoe Club in October. Rocky is an 8-year-old female who hails from Kauai. She usually cruises the Diamond Head area and has given birth to two pups, named Rocket and Rockette.
