2014 Fifty Years of Friendship
In 1964 Fred Hemmings traveled to Peru to represent Outrigger and Hawaii in the Peruvian Surfing Championships. Fred recently returned 50 years later and spent time with surfing icon Eduardo Arena, who inaugurated the World Surfing Championships. They show off photos of themselves from 1964 and 2014.

2014 Dome Gose Retires
Board members Fred Noa and Marc Haine with Domie Gose who retired after 42 years with the Club. Domie recently renovated all three of the Club's koa canoes to HCRA standards.

2014 Best Friends Forever
Theyt've been friends since the "old Club" and teammates in volleyball, tennis and paddling since the 1960s. They have been playing bridge at least once a week at the "New Club" for 50 years. Shown are Barbara Linn, Marilyn Haine, May Balding and Billie Baird.

2014 National Guard Patriot Award
OCC President Jeff Dinsmore presented the Patriot Award from the Employee Support of the Guard and Reserve to Hau Terrace Manager Lance Tanaka. OCC was nominated for the award by Sun Min Chun, a member of the National Guard, and server on the Hau Terrace. She thanked the Club for its support of her military service and for adjusting her work schedule to meet her military obligations. Lance is her supervisor.

John Boyer had a successful off-shore troll on his OC1, catching both a mahi mahi and an ono.
2014 NCAA Rowing Championship
Rachel Kincaid and Anna Auerbach, students at the University of San Diego, at the NCAA Rowing Championships. This was the first year USD broke into the top 20 national rankings and made it to the NCAAs. USD finished 15th overall.

2014 USA and Brazil Women's National Volleyball Teams
The Outrigger hosted the USA and Brazil Women's National Volleyball Teams on July 9 in the Koa Lanai. The teams played two matches at the Stan Sheriff Arena with the USA winning both nights in five sets. The highlight of the evening was USA Head Coach Karch Kiraly recounting the number of great volleyball players who have come from our Club and recognizing the great volleyball tradition and notoriety the Outrigger enjoys throughout the world. It was a truly special night.
2014 Boston Mayor's Cup Canoe Race
Katherine Nichols, center, and her husband, David Urell, left, were biking through Concord, MA when they almost biked into Fred Hemmings. Fred was there to participate in the Mayor's Cup on the Charles River. A canoe named after Fred's late brother Aka was blessed.

2014 Beach Cleanup
Beach Service Staff Ben Stout and Deroy Lupica cleaned debris from the ocean bottom fronting the OCC mooring area. This is about a third of what they removed. Helping were Todd, Christian and Brendan Bradley and Mary Quinn.

Halie Harrison finished fourth in the US SUP Tour technical race in Huntington Beach, California.

Halie Harrison made it to round three of the Stand Up World Tour in Huntington Beach.

Halie Harrison was second in the 8.5 mile Battle of the Bay around Alcatraz and the south side of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Halie Harrison finished first overall in her division at the Stand Up World Series at Turtle Bay, and was fourth overall woman.
