Outrigger Canoe Club won the 1956 Molokai to Oahu Canoe Race in the record-breaking time of 7:54 for the 38.96 mile course from Kawakiu Bay on Molokai to the HIlton Hawaiian Village Beach in Waikiki. The winning crew was: Merlyn Lyons, Doug Carr, Bob Daniels, Bill Baird, Dennis O'Connor, Archie Kaaua, Mark Auerbach, and George Downing.
1975 Molokai Hoe Canoe Race
Outrigger Canoe Club set a new record in the 1975 Molokai to Oahu canoe race, finishing the 40.41 mile course from Hale O Lono Harbor to the Moana Hotel in 5:39:07 in the koa canoe Kakina. 1977 Molokai to Oahu Canoe Race

Outrigger Canoe Club won the first Na Wahine O Ke Kai Canoe Race in 1979 from Molokai to Waikiki. Crossing the finish line in 6:47:11 were Connie Maguire, Sharon Bintliff, Suzy Johnston, Monte Costa, Michele St. John and Tracy Phillips. Also on the crew were Kaiulu Downing, Anne Hogan, Anita Minteer, Sue Oldt, Tiare Riechert and Diana Smart.
